About Vanessa Moya

Vanessa Moya is a Latina mezzo-soprano based in Boston who expertly uses her voice to perform music of both the past and present. A flexible artist comfortable in many styles and settings, she can regularly be heard singing everything from contemporary art song to Baroque oratorios.

While in Boston, Vanessa has done justice to some of the most difficult operatic roles in the canon, including Ruggiero (Alcina), Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito), Candelas (El Amor Brujo), and Gertrude Stein (After Life). She has also performed Ruth (The Pirates of Penzance), Mamma Lucia (Cavalleria Rusticana), and Third Lady (The Magic Flute). Her notable undergraduate opera credits include Cornelia (Giulio Cesare) and L’enfant (L’enfant et les sortilèges).

As an oratorio soloist, Vanessa has performed The Messiah, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Vivaldi’s Gloria. She additionally performed the role of Mercurius in a staged production of Phoebus und Pan with Longy School of Music.

She recently recorded the role of Caroline Norton (Angels of the House) with Ted and Togo Productions for a CD release.

Vanessa holds a Master of Music from Longy School of Music of Bard College and a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University, where she was awarded the Orestes Santos Music Scholarship for outstanding Cuban American music students in 2018.
